Our Approach

The Learning Partnership was formed in 2001 to maximise the impact of grants coming into Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly from the European Social Fund (ESF), then known as Objective One.

Working together with the Local Authority and the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) opportunities opened up to deliver youth services, apprenticeships and adult education.

Our aim is to promote lifelong learning in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. This includes identifying gaps in education and training opportunities and seeking measures to overcome them.

We work with a wide range of partners to deliver learning and skills training, reaching out especially to the socially excluded. By developing self-esteem and, confidence, and acquiring skills, they can contribute more to their communities and seek worthwhile employment.

We act as a broker and co-ordinator so smaller organisations across the education, community and business sectors are able to benefit from funding which they could not access themselves.

As new funds have come on stream, and the economic and political environment around us has changed,  our services have evolved. However, our ethos remains the same.

We continue to seek new opportunities and extend our partnership network to meet the needs of today’s learners. In turn, this approach builds social capital, enhances social cohesion and improves well-being.
